When my grandmother passed away about 6 years ago I was given a brooch of hers. After going through her jewelry my mother and I went to the library and got antique books. Amazed I found the dog brooch in one of them which was worth $100 according to the book. I want to say it was published around '95 but all I did was photo copy the page and didnt take down the information of the book we found it in. I want to see what its worth today but dont know how to go about looking for it. Its like a needle in a hay stack when trying to look through books. And Im finding nothing on the net. I've attached a link to a photo of it for any of you who are familiar with antique costume jewelry. Its a poor picture though. The Item is Sterling Silver and the book called it "Dog Brooch, American Indinian Design, Sterling Silver". The design isnt the same as the book had but the stone eye and design on tail and paws were the same. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y167/Free_Fallin_Angel/Picture005.jpg
I have recently acquired a 9ct yellow gold antique mourning brooch with a rose cut diamond set in the front & compartment in the back for either some hair or a photo. The Hallmark is Chester dated either 1909 or 1907 and the makers mark is TH ( although it could possibly be a TM but i dont think so). I have been researching but i cant seem to find out who the makers mark stands for. Can anyone tell me or point me in the direction of a website that can perhaps shed some light? Upon closer inspection, the makers mark is definitley a TH if this helps in anyway.
My ex boyfriend just gave me the most beautiful brooch I have ever seen. I am assuming that the gift was his way of getting back together. Anyway, how does one wear a brooch without looking like someone's granny?
Stylist Rachel Zoe said a brooch is an essention. Well, how can I wear it? Thanks!
